About Re-piping

Materials used

There are several different types of pipe that are approved for use in a potable water piping system.  Wirsbo Aquapex® and copper are the two materials generally used.  Wirsbo Aquapex® is manufactured in sizes of 1/2” to 3” and this is the material of choice.  When piping with a diameter larger than 3” is required then other types of plastic, copper or stainless steel pipe is usually used.  The BC Plumbing codes states that a third party such as Warnock-Hersey shall certify all copper, plastic and Wirsbo Aquapex® piping. The certification process ensures that all piping is manufactures to a standard as set forth in the in the plumbing code.  A properly installed new piping system should provide many years of trouble free performance.

Wirsbo Aquapex® piping is a plastic cross linked piping system. This system has gained in popularity due to the fact that it is flexible allowing an easier installation particularly in new construction where it can be embedded into concrete in long lengths without joints. The Wirsbo Aquapex® system has a 25-year limited warranty that covers manufacturers defects and failures.
